Ken Meyer on “Birdwatching From Space”

The Florida Keys Audubon Society’s speaker series will continue on Wednesday, February 5 at 6:30 p.m. at the Key West Public Library, 700 Fleming St. Please note this is a new location while the Key West Garden Club is under renovation.

The speaker will be Dr. Ken Meyer, executive director of the Avian Research and Conservation Institute. Meyer will give a talk called “Birdwatching from Space” and will show how satellite tracking technology has given great insight into the lives of Keys’s bird species, such as Reddish Egrets, Swallow-tailed Kites, White-crowned Pigeons, and Mangrove Cuckoos.

“Ken Meyer has been studying birds in the Florida Keys for decades. The Avian Research and Conservation Institute has learned things no one has ever known before about many Keys birds and how best to protect them. Plus he tells great stories,” said Mark Hedden, FKAS executive director.

Admissions is free and open to anyone who is interested.
