The Florida Keys Audubon Society will continue it’s speaker series on Wednesday, May 9 at 6:30 p.m. at the Key West Garden Club, 1100 Atlantic Boulevard.
The speaker will be Chris Guinto of the Florida Fish & Wildlife Crocodile Response Team as a response agent and nuisance alligator trapper. His talk will be 'The Awesome American Crocodile.’ This talk was originally scheduled for last December.
Guinto has been studying, protecting, and occasionally relocating crocodiles and alligators in the Florida Keys for over a decade.
“Crocodiles are the true rock stars of the animal kingdom. If you want to see a living dinosaur, just look at a crocodile. They're as cool as they come,” said Guinto.
“For the majority of people on the planet, 100% of everything they know about crocodiles comes from television. People rarely know the backstory of crocodiles or have even seen a wild crocodile,” he said.
Guinto said he hopes his talk will educate locals on why people are seeing more crocodiles and alligators, how to live side by side with them, and why these animals deserve a bit more respect from us.
Admissions is free and open to anyone who is interested.
